Abuse Prayer

Father, I am tired of suffering at the abuse of my spouse. I ask that You deliver me now from the guilty thinking, hopeful fantasies, denial, or the fears that have kept me in this situation.

Your Word says that my spouse should love me as they love their own body and care for me just as Christ cares for the church and gave Himself for it (Ephesians 5:28). I realize that my spouse does not love me because love does not hurt anyone (Romans 13:10).

Whether their problem stems from a generational curse of spousal abuse, a chemical imbalance in the brain, or any other cause, I ask that You deliver them now. Send someone across their path who will show them the way out of their bondage. Give me the wisdom to protect myself from their physical or verbal abuse because my body and my mind are Your temple and should not be dishonored in this way (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Give me the courage to remove myself from this abusive environment. I need a place of refuge and support. I stand on Your Word that says You will supply every need I have according to Your great riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
