Anxiety Devotion

Picture Fort Knox, fully guarded by soldiers, electric fences, and the latest protection devices. Nothing can come in or out, without the approval of proper authorities. It is top security at its greatest level. Borrow that image and apply it to the power of God’s protection of our thoughts as we seek Him in prayer. In today’s passage, we learn that God will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Paul writes the word “guard” to mean “You are continually being guarded.” It is ongoing. He is perpetually guarding the minds of believers from internal conflict and external attacks from Satan, such as anxiety and despair. To have this peace of mind or inner calm, we must continually walk with Him with unswerving trust that He is able and willing to protect. It is the peace of God that provides the guarding, for He is the source of true peace (Ephesians 2:11-14). In Christ, you will have peace (John 16:33), yet there is no peace for the wicked (Isaiah 48:22). The peace of God is not only adequate, but far exceeds human comprehension. Present your requests to God and peace will come.

“Peace is that calm of mind that is not ruffled by adversity, overclouded by a remorseful conscience, or disturbed by fear.” – Anonymous
