Lord, Your Word cautions that the rich rule the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7). Forgive me for not heeding Your warning. I am now a financial bondservant to several creditors. I accept full responsibility for getting into this mess. I confess that I failed to delay gratification of my desires, overspent, and disobeyed Your principles of good stewardship. I repent of all past irresponsible financial behavior.
Lord, I now need You to give me the courage to face my debts and take an honest look at where I stand financially. Don’t let me be in denial about the level of indebtedness I have accumulated. Let integrity guide my actions (Proverbs 11:3) as I commit to pay everyone whom I owe, including family and friends.
Lord, I do not want to be ignorant of Satan’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). He is attempting to keep me in financial bondage—I am paying exorbitant interest and unable to help finance Your Work.
Please send a qualified person across my path to help me develop and stick to a debt-elimination strategy. Help me stop making additional credit charges. Deliver me from emotional spending. Only You can make me whole. In Jesus name, amen.
