Dear Lord, I realize that another word for stinginess is greediness. The root of these two words are based off of what is at the center of my life…materialism. Jesus has told us that “You can’t worship two gods at once. Loving one god, you’ll end up hating the other. Adoration of one feeds contempt for the other. You can’t worship God and Money both” (Matthew 6:24). Help me to worship You alone. Help me to be a cheerful giver as I know this is what you love (2 Corinthians 9:7). Stinginess is a stronghold in my life and it is choking the joy out of being able to give of my resources and my time. I ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
